15 Second Summary |
Summoned as a Caster-class heroic spirit to participate in a Holy Grail War, Paracelsus is a sweet guy who really just wants to discover more about magic and the world, make some new friends, and be kind to children everywhere. Shame about...well, everything that happens, from getting mindfucked into betraying and killing his master by a nigh-omnipotent little girl to eventually going up against Arthur Pendragon and getting Excaliblasted to dust. That whole thing kind of sucked, really. |
Clothing |
White lab coat over a sweater and slacks, or a T-shirt if he's dressing down. His icons are pretty accurate. |
Abilities & Permissions |
Abilities |
He's a Caster-class Servant with all five of Fate's standard elemental affinities (which is super hella rare, even for Servants) and all the knowledge and power being a Heroic Spirit implies. Elemental magic, gemcraft and alchemy are his specialties, but he's also notably badass with curses, healing magic, illusions and wards, and he can probably pull off most things magically if he needs to. As a Caster, he's got the usual Territory Control skill at a reasonably high level, which lets him turn an area into a magical fortress with some time to set up magical traps, guardians and Bounded Fields. He's fantastic at creating useful items (see alchemy): he's known for creating Elementals, concentrated masses of purified classical elements that he can use as power reservoirs or animate like golems, and he can easily create homunculi as servants or guards. He's also got the standard Servant bullshit going -- increased physical stats over human baseline, dematerialization at will, reduced physical needs, etc. He does need a supply of mana in order to stay around (and he doesn't have Independent Action).
His Noble Phantasm, Sword of Paracelsus, is a blade of pure philosopher's stone that -- because he's from a Fate canon and sword lasers are what all the cool Fate kids have -- can unleash a fortress-killer beam of True Ether when he aligns it with the elements he commands. That's only a secondary function, though; with it in hand, he can analyze and absorb, negate, replicate or command any magical effect he perceives. It's possible to overwhelm this capability but you pretty much have to be wielding Fate!Excalibur or a similarly bullshit magical effect. His sword technique is apparently laughably bad, but he doesn't stab anything with it anyway. |
Permissions |
If things are getting adversarial I'd like to be in contact if possible! Paracelsus doesn't pick fights or take much enjoyment out of them, but he'll defend himself (or a friend, or a kid) and he's a powerful, versatile spellcaster. |
Sensing |
He's a Servant and thus made of magic! His thoughts are probably blocked off; telepathy isn't really a fate/ thing but he's done it onscreen so he probably knows how to counter it.
As far as sensing things himself, he can pick up magic pings and probably interpret them correctly. I think the Caster package comes with spiritual senses as well; he can certainly use a spell to simulate them if he has reason. |
